Gibson House Museum - My Voice in a Quilt
This collective exhibition of textile artwork was handcrafted by Syrian women, all newcomers to Toronto, as part of a Toronto Arts Council Animating Historic Sites program.Each quilt is composed of individual squares handcrafted by one woman, reflecting her emotions, memories, hopes and personal stories.

Together, these women gathered in a space for storytelling and emotional expression to share, support one another, and transform their lived experiences into art.Together, these pieces create a shared tapestry of connection, strength and beauty through stitches, colours, and fabrics. Stories of loss and resilience, displacement and belonging, pain and hope are a shared narrative and experience.Together, these quilts form a shared tapestry, a collective voice rising from women’s hearts, creating beauty and solidarity through the art of textile making.
