MONTHLY THEMES

June (via Zoom): Remarkably You! - What does it mean to be remarkably you? We will learn the stories of unique people who believed in themselves and helped shape our community. We’ll read “Remarkably You” by Pat Zietlow Miller and make creative self-portraits that show how special we all are!

July: Electrical Wizard - Electricity! It’s everywhere. In our homes, schools, offices, roads, and even in the sky! Join us as we explore the story of electricity and learn about Nikola Tesla, the man who discovered how to harness and apply electricity to our everyday lives.

August: Big Ideas - Have you ever had an idea? What do you do with it once you have it? We’ll discover how big ideas led to amazing creations and possibilities in Pikes Peak regional history. How will your ideas impact our community?

September: Intergenerational Month - This September we are celebrating Intergenerational Awareness Month. We’ll read “How to Babysit a Grandma” by Jean Reagan and explore how family relationships helped shape our community.

October: Dinosaur Tails - Did you know a unique dinosaur was discovered in Colorado Springs? Theiophytalia kerri was found in the Garden of the Gods Park in 1878! We’ll discover the tale of this amazing creature and learn how dinosaurs used their tails! Join us as we make dinosaur tails and go through an obstacle course to discover the importance of tails and how they aided animals of the past and present.

November: Cultural Crossroads - Have you watched as winter becomes spring? Do you grow taller each year? Change is all around us! Our region is a cultural crossroads that has changed over time. We’ll explore the new Cultural Crossroads exhibit and discover how our community has grown, changed, and how many different cultures have transformed our city into what it is today.
