Carpentry Camp (Age 10+) | Kids Out and About Toronto

Carpentry Camp (Age 10+)

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/26/2024
This camp introduces campers to the wonders of woodworking and learning to make something with their own hands. From learning the basic of how a shop works and shop safety, to how to use hand tools and power tools, this camp is a fantastic primer for learning how to make something that will last. This camp also features a small class size to ensure safety and more one-on-one learning.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Carpentry Club is meant for kids 10 years and older

A week long program to learn woodworking in a safe workshop environment.

  • Explore different types of wood, their qualities and uses.

  • Gain hands-on experience with hand tools and hardware.

  • Develop dexterity and problem solving skills.

  • Learn about shop safety, PPE, and shop etiquette.

Participants will be supported and guided through a few projects from paper to product; they will learn to work through the planning process, develop organizational skills through the planning stages, and execute hands-on tasks to complete their builds.

At the end of the week, they will have a practical project they can proudly take home.

What to Expect:

Camp happens at Mischief Makers at 247 Coxwell Ave. At lunch we go to the park, weather permitting. If we’re indoors for lunch, we’ll watch a movie.
We like to start the day with some creative drawing games to get our brains working. Through the day we run a variety of Art, Craft, and STEM based activities with Free Time during the last hour of the day. We’ve got board games and STEM toys like Lego and K’Nex, as well as other easy maker activities available during Free Time.
