On Cloud Nine Camp
Reach Up To The Skies
Ages 8-10 and 11-13
On Cloud Nine Camp is a fun, hands-on, STEM-approved camp designed for kids who are curious about weather, climate, and the world above their heads. Set in a supportive, informal learning environment, campers receive a complete set of STEM supplies and dive into a full week of discovery, science, and creativity.
Through games, projects, and exciting investigations, campers explore nature, contribute to authentic science research, and design creative strategies to protect the planet — all while learning how clouds and weather shape life on Earth.
Using the GLOBE Observer citizen science platform, campers observe and record sky conditions, then submit their data to NASA. Their reports are compared to real satellite images, helping researchers study how clouds influence Earth’s climate and energy balance.
Activity Topics Include:
Get to Know a Cloud – Identify cloud types and learn their role in weather
Build a Satellite – Engineer and experiment with models
Ground Truthing – Compare your observations with NASA data
A Closer Look at the Sky – Investigate atmospheric layers
Rocket Science – Explore the physics of flight
Drain to Rain – Discover the water cycle
Measure the Wind – Learn about meteorological tools
Erupt a Volcano – Simulate volcanic weather impacts
Fly a Kite – See wind patterns in action
Green Design – Create solutions for a healthier planet
And as jam-packed as the week will be with science and discovery, campers will also enjoy:
Next-level, cloud & weather-related VR experiences that bring science to life
Arcade time for some extra mid-week fun
Arts ’n’ crafts inspired by clouds and weather
Outdoor activities & friendly sports challenges
A field trip to High Park for real-world sky watching, plus a visit to the playground and zoo - because that's where the Capybaras are!
This unique camp blends education, adventure, and pure fun, helping kids see the world above them in a whole new way — and inspiring the next generation of weather scientists, engineers, and problem solvers.
We provide two separate and distinct age-appropriate sessions to help us: focus the best level of instruction, keep the campers as comfortable as possible, determine the necessary number of staff & counselors and provide reasonable expectations of the level of engagement from each group & the amount of time spent working on projects.
