*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 02/17/2020
An all new experience featuring our famous train simulator, just in time for Family Day 2020!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

If you’ve been to the Toronto Railway Museum before, you’ll know that one of the main highlights of the experience is the opportunity to use our train simulator. Using authentic locomotive controls, guests embark on an immersive experience as they learn to operate a train on the Toronto Rail Lands in the 1950s.

On Family Day 2020 (February 17th), we will be debuting Connect The Canadian, a unique and exclusive simulator event unlike any other. Connect The Canadian will have you assume the role of a rail yard switcher, connecting cars to make the famous Canadian Pacific train The Canadian. The Canadian is famous for being the transcontinental passenger train that took people from either Toronto or Montreal out west to Vancouver (and back). You will learn how important yard switching was for railway companies and get an in-depth look into railway operations. This challenge is quite in-depth, therefore we recommend it for individuals aged 10 and up, however it is still open to all ages!

Tickets for this event are time sensitive. You will be given 30 minutes to complete the challenge. If you purchase a ticket for this event, please be punctual as spaces are limited. Time slots will be available throughout the day, but priority will be given to those who buy their tickets in advance. If you want to guarantee your chance to try out our new challenge, buy your tickets online.

This is an experience unlike any other, and will only be available on select dates, so get your tickets for Family Day!

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the museum

There is no parking directly at the Roundhouse. However, underneath the Roundhouse there is parking offered by the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Rates may vary by day due to other events being held at the MTCC, so be sure to check their website for updates. If taking public transit, the John Street Roundhouse is about a ten minute walk from both Union and St. Andrew subway stations. The 504 King streetcar stop is at John Street, then a ten minute walk south. If taking the 509 Harbourfront streetcar, the closest stop is at Rees Street.

Availability/Time Slots

Since this is a timed experience, you will need to arrive on time to fully enjoy the simulator challenge. You will have 30 minutes to complete the challenge, beginning at the time stated on your ticket. If you arrive late for your time slot, you will have less time to complete the challenge.

What's the refund policy?

There will be no refunds issued on purchases for the event unless the event is cancelled by the event organizer.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

If you purchase tickets online prior to one of the event days, you will need to bring a copy of your ticket (either printed out on a mobile device) and present it at the door.
