Looking for solutions to addressing your child's learning challenges, problem solving skills, critical thinking, processing speed and more?
Come for a visit, learn more and give our innovative brain changing exercises a try.
Our Arrowsmith School story starts with a young girl who experienced challenges with reading, writing, mathematics, and social situations.... she even struggled with navigating spaces, so was constantly bumping into things. In grade one, her parents were led to believe that she would always struggle and her future looked grim.
As a teen, she continued to struggle, which led to extremely low self-esteem and eventually, serious compromised mental health.
Fortunately, despite her challenges, she was determined to succeed and had many strengths to draw upon.
The Arrowsmith Program began when Barbara Arrowsmith-Young, began to search for solutions for her learning challenges. Through her research she learned that her difficulties resided in specific areas of her brain and that she had some profound strengths as well as the weaknesses that impacted her ability to learn like everyone else. She also learned that the brain can change. First, given this knowledge, she problem-solved to address her own learning challenges, and then she began to address the learning challenges of others.
Barbara was a pioneer in understanding the neuroplasticity of the brain and the ability to strengthen the brain’s cognitive capacity for learning.
In 1980 Arrowsmith School was founded, and since that time, people have travel from all over the world to attend Arrowsmith School in-person or join our online campus to address their learning challenges.
Maybe, you or your child can relate to Barbara's early struggles and educational challenges. If you can, how about giving your child the opportunity for cognitive change and reopen doors to their future that might feel as though they have closed.
If you are an adult struggling with learning challenges, please join us as well. Our program addresses the needs of all ages. It's never to late for the brain to change!
