An Introduction to Winter Wildlife Tracking - High Park Nature Centre
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 01/21/2023
Are you curious about the tracks you see outside? Have you wondered about the animals that made them, what they were doing and why? Then join us at the High Park Nature Centre as we explore the basic concepts of animal tracking.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
In this workshop, we will be covering basic mammal track ID, foot morphology and gaits, "tools of the trade" and resources to explore at home. We will be also be thinking about how animals behave in colder weather, "tracks" they leave that aren't footprints, and spending time outdoors in beautiful High Park.
Note: Please bring: a nut-free lunch, snacks and a hot beverage; a small ruler or tape measure; and a small camera or your phone. Hand warmers highly recommended! We will be spending the day outside, so come dressed for the weather.
